Imaging M42

January 8 2011
Tonight has been the first clear night, where I have been able to get my scope out since October 2010!!!!
The aim tonight was to see if I could use Stellarium and image M42. One problem - its very windy and there are quite strong gusts catching my scope.
The image below is a combination of 10 x 60s and 5 x 30s subs. Registered and stacked in DSS and finished off in Photoshop.

As you can see the stars are quite bloated and oblong shape due to the wind, but I couldnt help it as it was my first chance to image M42 and I was going to do it no matter what.
Seeing that first shot show up on the back of the camera was superb.
